ANALYSIS OF BOARDING CUSTOMS AT BOARDING OUT OF HOME
ŽIŽKOVÁ, Adéla
The object of the bachelor thesis is the boarding customs at boarding out of home. The boarding represents the satisfaction process of one of the fundamental life requirements {--} nutrition requirement. The way and the forms of the human satisfaction process generally depend on the development level of certain society. The development differs according to the material, economy, political, social and religion aspect. The main aim of the work is the analysis and evaluation of present boarding customs at boarding out of home. The studied problem lays in the question how consumers decide in boarding out of home; i.e. if the price has an impact on their decision process, or is it a pleasant environment, advertising, etc. Moreover, what type of boarding facility do consumers prefer. The first part of the thesis concentrates on the study of technical literature. The primary focus is on the consumer behaviour, gastronomy area, boarding from the general point of view, individual types of boarding facilities and on the marketing survey {--} design of the questionnaires, collection and evaluation of data. The practical solution of the bachelor thesis follows the theoretical background. The actual research is the prime concern of this part. The survey strategy is determined; the research problem, research targets and initial hypothesis are defined. The data collection method, the data collection placement, the way of interviewing and the range of data file is set. Next step is the questionnaire design. The personal interviewing was chosen as an optimal one. The data collection was situated in the South Bohemian region during the February 2007. The respondents were selected on the random selection basis. Acquired information were processed in the Microsoft Office Excel software, there the items was described in the tables and graphs. The survey conclusion and data evaluation describing the present boarding customs at boarding out of home was performed in the last part of the work.
Basal metabolic rate, dietary intervention and nutrients producing nociceptive pain in individuals with spinal cord injury

Title: Basal metabolism and nutritional intervention for people with spinal cord injuries Objectives: The main objective of this work was empirical research of case evaluation studies (n = 3), where we analyzed: the relationship between energy expenditure (basal metabolism) and energy intake for people diagnosed with spinal cord injury (SCI). The secondary objective was to determine whether the changes in macronutrient distribution and daily energy intake would result in a decrease in body weight and body fat for individual probands. The pilot study in our work was focused on the overview of variable basal metabolism (BM) values for people with SCI. Methods: In our work, we used the method of indirect calorimetry to measure BM and together with the value of working metabolism we determined in the nutritional intervention (n. i.) the ideal energy intake for our probands. We observed primarily measurable changes in the amount of fat and muscle tissue. Results: We have found that, in keeping with the prescribed n. i. rules, all probands achieved to reduce their body weight. The average body weight loss for probands was 0.29 ± 0.02 kg per week. BM values in our pilot study were 15 to 61% lower for our probands (n = 15) and did not correlate with the height of SCI. Key words: spinal cord injury (SCI),...

Páblová, Denisa ; Kinkorová, Ivana (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Eating habits of children in sports primary schools Objectives: The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out and compare the eating habits of selected children from sports and non-sports classes at primary schools with a sports focus. Methods: In the research part, a survey was chosen, the aim of which was to obtain the necessary information regarding the eating habits of a selected group of students. A total of 208 respondents aged 10-15 participated in the survey. Results: The obtained average BMI values of all respondents are below the 75th percentile, which indicates the values of optimal and proportional body weight. We found different eating habits between respondents of sports and non-sports classes. Respondents from non-sports classes have worse eating habits than respondents from sports classes. However, surprising differences were evaluated in the possibilities of spending free time. A total of 39.6% of respondents spend time at the weekend at home or in other activities, such as watching television. Of this, 22.6% are respondents from sports classes, which is more than respondents from non- sports classes (17.1%). A total of 60.4% of respondents engage in sports activities in their free time, where respondents from non-sports classes are more represented (31.2%). Keywords:...
The role of nutrition in the treatment of osteoporosis
Večeřová, Vendula ; Zikán, Vít (advisor) ; Kytnarová, Jitka (referee)
Introduction: Osteoporosis is one of the most frequent bone metabolic disease. It is a systemic metabolic skeleton disease, where the architecture of bone tissue is damaged due to the loss of bone mass, and therefore the bone quality is reduced. Thus, it comes to increased bones fragility and reduction in mechanical resistance, which leads to a higher risk of fractures. The principle of pathogenesis is an imbalance between resorption and bone formation. Due to increasing lifetime and lifestyle changes, the prevalence of the disease increases. Aim: The aim of the practical part of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the eating habits of postmenopausal women treated for osteoporosis and to evaluate their nutritional condition in relation to bone mineral density (BMD). Methods: Nutritional habits were obtained and evaluated through a questionnaire survey. Three-day meal records were collected and analysed using the Nutriservis Profesional nutritional software, to determine the energy intake and selected nutrients. Osteodensitometric data were measured using dual emission X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Results: The analysis of the diet showed that the observed group of women consumes an excessive amount of energy on average, especially in form of fats. Higher intake of protein was also observed....

Risk of osteoporosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: nutritional factors
Skalníková, Karolína ; Zikán, Vít (advisor) ; Raška, Ivan (referee)
Introduction: Osteoporosis is a systemic metabolic skeletal disease characterized by a decrease in bone mechanical resistance due to decreased bone mass and/or bone quality defects. The incidence of osteoporosis has been increasing in developed countries. The reason for this is a lifestyle change in terms of a decrease in physical activity and an increase in life expectancy, which is also related to an increase in the number of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic disease characterized by insulin resistance, insulin deficiency and hyperglycaemia. Type 2 diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis often occur together. Some authors consider osteoporosis to be a chronic complication of type 2 diabetes. Objective: The objective of this thesis is to evaluate dietary habits and intakes of selected nutrients in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) and compare this with recommended values and with control group of women without type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to assess possible relationships to the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Methods: Dietary habits and intakes of selected nutrients were evaluated on the basis of questionnaires and an analysis of three-day dietary plans. Energy, essential nutrients, fiber, sodium, calcium and...
Eating habits of health care professionals
Bičianová, Michaela ; Meisnerová, Eva (advisor) ; Vágnerová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with eating habits of nutrition therapists and nurses and with influence of shift work on boarding of nurses. It also dedicates to risks of eating disorders in both groups. It consists of two parts. In the theoretical part are described principles of healthy eating, issues of shift work and characteristic of eating disorders. The practical part uses the questionnaire to find out how the dietary habits of nutrition therapists and nurses differ. The aim is to find out whether nutrition therapists eat better than nurses on the basis of their education, and how shift work affects boarding of nurses. The results are processed into graphs and tables. The results show that general nutritional recommendations follow more nutrition therapists than nurses. Furthermore the questionnaire shows that more than 50% of nurses eats irregularly and the main reason for skipping meals during the night shift is lack of time. It has also been found that a large percentage of nutrition therapists have begun to study their field to get more information about nutrition. It has been confirmed that both nutrition therapists and nurses are in risk group for eating disorders. keywords: eating habits, nutrition, dietary recommendations, nutritional therapy, nurses, eating disorders
